Trust & transparency
Editorial standards
How we research, write, review and correct content on BuyAPropertyInSpain. Read alongside our methodology and about Susan pages.
Independence
BuyAPropertyInSpain is buyer-side and independent. We are not paid by sellers, developers or estate agents to publish or rank content. Our recommendations and analysis serve the international buyer.
Source hierarchy
Every factual claim is grounded in a documented source hierarchy: Tier 1 — official Spanish registries (Registradores, Notariado, INE, Banco de España); Tier 2 — market data (Idealista, Tinsa, ST Sociedad de Tasación); Tier 3 — institutional research (Savills, JLL, CBRE, Knight Frank). See our methodology for the full rule.
Authorship and review
Articles are written or reviewed by Susan Hobbelin, our editorial lead. Where outside specialist input is needed (legal, tax, mortgage), we name the professional consulted. We do not publish anonymous articles.
AI disclosure
We use AI tools to assist research, summarisation and drafting. Every published article is reviewed by a human editor before publication. AI is never the final source of truth — official registries and named professionals are.
Last reviewed dates
Each guide and destination hub displays a 'Last reviewed' date. Time-sensitive material (tax rates, mortgage LTVs, residency rules) is reviewed at least annually and re-dated when updated.
Corrections policy
If you spot an error, write to us via the contact page. Corrections to facts are made promptly and noted in-line where they affect substance. We do not silently edit published facts.
Conflicts of interest
Where any commercial relationship exists with a partner whose service we describe (e.g. preferred mortgage brokers, currency specialists, lawyers in a buyer marketplace), that relationship is disclosed at the point of mention.
What we are not
BuyAPropertyInSpain and Susan Hobbelin are not a law firm, mortgage broker, financial adviser or estate agent. Where regulated advice is needed, we direct readers to professionals registered with the appropriate Spanish authority.
